Job summary

Trafford College in Greater Manchester seeks a Learning Support Specialist - Literacy & Numeracy to assist learners with SEND across FE settings. You will deliver targeted interventions, support English and maths, and help learners overcome barriers to learning, improving outcomes and independence.

The role offers flexible Full-Time/Part-Time hours on a Temporary/Term-Time basis, with opportunities to contribute to EHCP outcomes and promote inclusive learning.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting learners with SEND in educational settings.
• Strong literacy and numeracy skills.
• Good understanding of English and mathematics curriculum delivery.
• Ability to explain concepts clearly and adapt learning strategies to individual learner needs.
• Excellent communication, organisation and interpersonal skills.
• Commitment to supporting learner achievement, independence and inclusion.
• Experience working in FE environments.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one and small-group support in English, maths, literacy and numeracy.
• Deliver targeted interventions to improve reading, writing, spelling, communication and mathematical understanding.
• Support learners in developing Functional Skills and everyday numeracy.
• Adapt learning materials and strategies to meet individual learner needs.
• Support learners with SEND needs including autism, ADHD, dyslexia and communication difficulties.
• Monitor learner progress and provide feedback to teaching staff.
• Help learners develop confidence, independence, study skills and employability.
• Assist learners in working towards EHCP outcomes where appropriate.
• Promote inclusive learning practices and positive learner engagement.
• Collaborate with lecturers, SEND teams and other support professionals.
