Job summary

Academics in Reading is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Support Teaching Assistant to help foster a nurturing and inclusive environment for students. The role starts ASAP and involves supporting students to manage emotions and access healthy coping strategies at school and home.

You will deliver tailored interventions, assist with classroom activities, and support students with challenging behaviour to build foundations for good mental health, including autism-specific support where needed.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting students with emotional and social needs.
• Ability to support students with challenging behaviour in classroom settings.
• Experience working with autism or students needing individualised support.

Responsibilities

• Foster trusting and supportive relationships with students, promoting well-being and resilience.
• Assist with classroom activities, ensuring students are engaged and participating.
• Monitor student progress and provide feedback to teachers and parents.
• Help model healthy coping strategies and social skills.
• Maintain a safe and positive learning environment.
• Work closely with students to implement individualised support to students with autism.
• Implement individualised therapeutic strategies.
• Support students in developing social communication skills.
