Job summary

Academics in Reading is seeking a dedicated Behavioural Support Assistant to join a secondary SEN school. You will provide 1:1 and small group support to students with behavioural, emotional and additional needs.

You will work 8:30am-3:30pm, Monday to Friday, supporting pupils to build emotional regulation, confidence and independence while collaborating with teachers and the pastoral team to maintain a calm learning environment. ASAP start; £93-£110/day.

Qualifications

  • Compassionate, patient, resilient and enthusiastic about supporting young people.
  • Confident communicator with an interest in behaviour, mental health and SEN.
  • Able to remain calm and consistent when supporting students with challenging behaviour.
  • Interested in gaining practical experience in psychology, education, therapy or behavioural support.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1:1 and small group support to students with behavioural, emotional and additional needs.
  • Support students in developing positive behaviours, emotional regulation, confidence and independence.
  • Help students manage challenging situations and develop appropriate strategies for managing their emotions and behaviour.
  • Work closely with teachers and the wider pastoral team to create a calm, positive and supportive learning environment.
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with students and act as a positive role model.
