Job summary

Marchant Recruitment is seeking a dedicated Behaviour Mentor to support pupils in a Braunstone, Leicester school. The role covers Nursery, Reception and Key Stage 1, providing 1:1 and small-group support to develop emotional literacy and social skills.

You will work with teachers, SENCO and pastoral teams to deliver trauma-informed strategies, monitor progress and contribute to safeguarding, with a view to long-term development and permanence in education.

Qualifications

• Experience working in Primary, Nursery or EYFS environments.
• Knowledge of SEND, SEMH, attachment difficulties, ASD or ADHD.
• Ability to implement behaviour interventions and monitor impact.
• Excellent communication, teamwork and interpersonal skills.
• Emotional resilience and reflective practice.
• Flexible and proactive approach.
• Desirable qualifications in education, childcare, psychology, youth work or mental health.

Responsibilities

• Deliver 1:1 behavioural and emotional support to children
• Facilitate small group programmes targeting emotional literacy, social skills and self-regulation
• Support children across Nursery, Reception and Key Stage 1 classrooms
• Assist pupils with transitions, routines and coping with change
• Support behaviour management during playtimes, lunchtimes and unstructured periods
• Implement and monitor behaviour support plans
• Use restorative, play-based and trauma-informed strategies
• Observe, record and track pupil progress and responses to interventions
• Work collaboratively with teachers, EYFS staff, SENCO and pastoral teams
• Build effective and professional relationships with parents and carers
• Contribute to planning, review meetings and multi-agency discussions
• Support safeguarding and child protection policies
• Promote a school culture of empathy, inclusion and respect
