Job summary

Matchtech Group is seeking a Senior Design Manager with an MEP bias to support a major airport infrastructure project at Heathrow. The role is based at the Compass Centre for three days per week and requires extensive experience in aviation, rail, or similar complex environments.

You will lead MEP design delivery, coordinate multidisciplinary teams, and manage interfaces across disciplines, ensuring compliance with standards and governance throughout the project lifecycle.

Qualifications

• Significant experience working as a Design Manager on major construction or infrastructure projects.
• Strong MEP design management experience.
• Experience managing subcontractor designs and coordinating multidisciplinary design teams.
• Background in airport, aviation, rail or similarly complex operational environments.
• Understanding of design assurance, technical governance and construction coordination.
• Excellent communication, organisation and stakeholder management skills.
• Ability to identify design risks and develop practical solutions.
• Willingness to work at the Compass Centre, Heathrow, three days per week.

Responsibilities

• Managing the delivery of MEP design packages throughout the project lifecycle
• Coordinating and reviewing designs produced by subcontractors and design consultants
• Ensuring designs comply with project requirements, relevant standards and statutory regulations
• Managing design interfaces between MEP, architectural, structural and construction disciplines
• Monitoring design progress, quality, technical risks and required approvals
• Supporting design reviews, technical meetings and stakeholder engagement
• Working closely with project, commercial and construction teams to support successful delivery
• Maintaining clear design records and ensuring changes are effectively managed
