Job summary

Teaching Personnel is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs across primary schools in Huddersfield. This role offers full-time, long-term placements with weekly pay and a daytime schedule from 8:15am to 3:30pm.

You will provide one-to-one support, assist learning activities, monitor progress, and work closely with teachers and parents to help each pupil reach their goals. Experience in education is desirable.

Qualifications

• Have experience working with children with SEN or additional needs.
• Have previous experience within a school, childcare, or educational setting.
• Hold a Level 2 or Level 3 qualification in Childcare or Supporting Teaching and Learning (desirable).
• Have a good understanding of primary-aged learners.
• Be patient, compassionate, and adaptable.
• Demonstrate excellent communication and teamwork skills.
• Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and child welfare.
• Be committed to helping every child reach their full potential.

Responsibilities

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support for pupils with Special Educational Needs.
• Support pupils both inside and outside the classroom to access learning.
• Deliver targeted interventions and personalised learning activities.
• Encourage independence, confidence, and social development.
• Support pupils with communication, emotional regulation, and engagement.
• Promote positive behaviour and wellbeing.
• Monitor and record pupil progress.
• Work collaboratively with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to support individual learning plans.
• Help create a safe, nurturing, and inclusive learning environment.
• Support pupils in achieving their academic and personal goals.
