Job summary

Teaching Personnel Ltd. is seeking a dedicated 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant to support pupils with additional needs in primary schools around Huddersfield. The role runs 8:15am–3:30pm with competitive daily pay and weekly pay, offering full-time, consistent work.

You will work across EYFS, KS1 and KS2, providing tailored interventions and monitoring progress. Experience in SEN and primary settings is preferred, with Level 2 Childcare desirable.

Qualifications

• Experience supporting children with SEN.
• Experience in a primary school setting.
• Level 2 Childcare qualification (desirable).
• SEN-specific qualifications or training (advantageous).
• Good understanding of KS1/KS2 curricula.
• Commitment to pupil progress and development.
• Excellent communication and relationship-building skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide one-to-one support for pupils with additional needs.
• Deliver tailored interventions and support programmes.
• Support learning across the primary age range.
• Encourage engagement, independence, and confidence.
• Promote positive behaviour and emotional wellbeing.
• Monitor and record pupil progress.
• Collaborate with teachers, SENCOs, and parents on learning plans.
• Support small group learning activities as required.
• Help create a safe, inclusive learning environment.
• Advocate for pupils to achieve learning goals.

As a 1:1 SEN Teaching Assistant, you will:

• Provide dedicated one-to-one support for pupils with additional needs

• Work closely with teachers, SENCOs, and parents to support individual learning plans

To be successful in this role, you should:

• Have experience supporting children with Special Educational Needs (SEN)


• Have previous experience working within a primary school setting


• Hold a Level 2 Childcare qualification (desirable but not essential)


• Possess SEN-specific qualifications or training (advantageous)


• Have a good understanding of the KS1 and/or KS2 curriculum


• Be committed to supporting pupil progress and development


• Demonstrate excellent communication and relationship-building skills


• Have a strong understanding of safeguarding and child welfare

• Patient, empathetic, and supportive
