Job description

ScreenSkills is the industry-led skills body for the screen industries – film, television (including children’s, unscripted and high-end), VFX, animation and games. We are supporting the continued growth and future innovation across the whole of the UK by investing in the skilled and inclusive workforce who are critical to the global success of the screen sector.

We are supported by industry contributions to our Skills Funds – High-end TV, Film, Animation, Children’s TV, Unscripted TV – and Arts Council England to help people get into the industry and progress within it.

The role of the I&E manager will be to ensure evidence of ScreenSkills activities and impact is being collected, analysed, and disseminated, both within and outside of the organisation.

The I&E manager will be responsible for the collection, collation and analysis of the relevant data against a clear impact framework. They will work internally to oversee workflow and processes which ensure evidence is being consistently collected and can be used to effectively communicate ScreenSkills organisational impact.

The I&E manager will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to regularly review the Impact Framework to ensure it is fit for purpose and to evolve it to support ScreenSkills’ strategic purpose and aims.

Key Responsibilities:
  • Data collation – The I&E manager will be responsible for gathering the internal data needed for outcome/output and KPI evidence. It will be their role to establish a clear and practical workflow, and to ensure teams are sharing data on a regular basis to build up the evidence base. They will work with the existing Data team to improve data reporting across the organisation and with relevant project leads to ensure they are supported to collect the required information to rigorous quality standards.
  • Methodological design and ownership – the I&E manager should collaborate with internal teams to optimise the current external data collection methods so that they provide evidence of the framework. They will also be responsible for analysing the results and making strategic recommendations based on the insights.
  • Internal stakeholder management – The I&E manager will be responsible for championing and embedding the framework within ScreenSkills. They will foster an evaluation culture within the organisation by supporting teams to implement consistent data collection and utilising internal research to support their projects/programmes.
  • External stakeholder management – The focus on the I&E manager role will be mainly establishing the framework at the start, but this role could evolve into commissioning and managing external evaluators who will provide any additional evaluation or social/economic research. The I&E manager will then ensure this research is incorporated into the framework and is utilised as evidence.
Essential skills and experiences:

Experience

  • Significant experience in an evaluation or impact role, with proven track record of implementing and managing evaluation frameworks within organisations.
  • Experience managing multiple projects and stakeholder groups.
  • Experience rolling out new evaluation processes and in capacity building and supporting internal stakeholders
  • Experience commissioning and/or managing internal and external partners.
  • Familiar with social value and economic impact methodologies, as well as The Treasury Green Book
  • Experience in the creative industries, and/or skills development (desirable).
  • Thorough understanding of consent processes and GDPR/data protection

Skills

  • Strong project management, relationship and facilitation skills and the ability to drive complex projects forward
  • Comfortable with leading workstreams working with a high degree of autonomy and accountability.
  • Innovative and solution-oriented in approach.
  • Strong data literacy and analytical skills and adept at working with variable data sets
  • Excellent understanding of impact measurement and presentation and how to unearth and elevate the most relevant information
  • Able to navigate ambiguity and bring others with them
  • Ability to translate complex data into clear, practical insights for non-specialist audiences.
  • Committed to equality, diversity and inclusion in alignment with ScreenSkills’ values as an organisation.
