Job summary

Realise Education is recruiting an English Teacher for a mainstream secondary school in Harlow, Essex. This supply/short-term role starts ASAP and runs until Christmas 2026 with potential to extend.

You will deliver English Language and English Literature lessons, support literacy and analysis, and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment. Applicants must hold QTS or equivalent and have UK secondary teaching experience.

Qualifications

• QTS or equivalent teaching qualification.
• Experience teaching English in a UK secondary school.
• Strong knowledge of English Language and Literature.

Responsibilities

• Plan and deliver engaging English lessons in line with the secondary curriculum.
• Teach English Language and English Literature to secondary-aged students.
• Create a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Manage classroom behaviour effectively and maintain high expectations.
• Adapt teaching methods to support students of different abilities.
• Assess student progress and provide constructive feedback.
• Work collaboratively with the English department and wider teaching team.
• Support students in developing confidence and achieving their academic potential.
