Realise Education is recruiting an English Teacher for a mainstream secondary school in Harlow, Essex. This supply/short-term role starts ASAP and runs until Christmas 2026 with potential to extend.

You will deliver English Language and English Literature lessons, support literacy and analysis, and contribute to a positive, inclusive learning environment. Applicants must hold QTS or equivalent and have UK secondary teaching experience.

Salary: Competitive Daily Rates (Dependent on Experience)

The Role

As an English Teacher, you will be responsible for delivering engaging and effective English lessons, supporting students in developing their literacy, communication and analytical skills.

• Planning and delivering engaging English lessons in line with the secondary curriculum.
• Teaching English Language and English Literature to secondary-aged students.
• Creating a positive and inclusive classroom environment.
• Managing classroom behaviour effectively and maintaining high expectations.
• Adapting teaching methods to support students of different abilities.
• Assessing student progress and providing constructive feedback.
• Working collaboratively with the English department and wider teaching team.
• Supporting students in developing confidence and achieving their academic potential.

What We're Looking For

• Hold Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
• Have experience teaching English within a UK secondary school.
• Have strong subject knowledge in English Language and Literature.
• Are confident managing a classroom and engaging students of varying abilities.
• Are adaptable, reliable and able to settle quickly into a new school environment.
• Have excellent communication and organisational skills.
• Are available to start immediately or at short notice.
• Hold an Enhanced DBS registered on the Update Service or are willing to obtain one.
