Job summary

Royal United Hospitals Bath NHS Foundation Trust is recruiting an Imaging Support Worker to assist radiographers and the diagnostic imaging team, delivering patient-centred care and helping run a wide range of imaging services.

You will prepare rooms and equipment, support RIS/PACS usage, manage day-to-day operations, and help supervise students and new staff, with a flexible shift pattern 08:00–20:00 Monday to Sunday.

Qualifications

• GCSE English/Maths min grade C/4 or equivalent.
• Care Certificate or willingness to work towards.
• Experience with peripheral cannulation.
• Healthcare/Science Level 3 qualification.
• Level 3 qualification (A-Levels/BTEC/T Levels/Level 3 NVQ)

Responsibilities

• Initial patient identification and screening checks.
• Assist with patient transfers, positioning and manual handling.
• Support vulnerable patients and those with additional needs.
• Prepare examination rooms and equipment for procedures.
• Assist with aseptic techniques.
• Check emergency equipment availability and functionality.
• Decontaminate equipment after procedures.
• Cannulation where trained and authorised.
• Prepare PPE and patient-handling equipment.
• Recognise deteriorating patients and escalate concerns.
• Record observations where trained.
• Support accurate patient pathway records.
• Perform routine equipment QA and daily checks.
• Identify and report equipment faults.
• Move and prepare mobile imaging equipment.
• Support students, trainees and new staff.
