Job summary

New Victoria Hospital is seeking an Imaging Assistant to support radiology services in Kingston upon Thames. You will work closely with Radiologists and Radiographers, helping with patient preparation, imaging procedures, and maintaining a safe, welcoming environment.

This part-time role (27 hours per week) offers a patient-focused position within a busy imaging department, with opportunities to contribute to high-quality care and support ongoing improvements in service delivery.

Qualifications

  • NVQ Level 3 or equivalent qualification.
  • Experience carrying out basic nursing or clinical support tasks.
  • At least one year's experience working within a healthcare, hospital, or similar clinical environment.
  • Understanding of medical interventions and patient care practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with a patient-focused approach.
  • Ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team.
  • Flexible, organised, and able to remain calm under pressure.
  • A proactive, professional, and motivated individual with a positive attitude.
  • Previous Imaging Department experience and knowledge of IR(ME)R regulations would be advantageous.

Responsibilities

  • Support day-to-day running of the Imaging Department across CT, MRI, Ultrasound, X-Ray, and Interventional Imaging.
  • Prepare imaging rooms, equipment, and patient lists to ensure clinics and procedures run efficiently.
  • Welcome, prepare, and support patients throughout imaging appointments, delivering an outstanding patient experience.
  • Assist Radiographers and Radiologists during imaging procedures and clinics.
  • Record patient observations and support with clinical tasks, including patient safety screening.
  • Maintain infection prevention, cleanliness, health and safety, and patient confidentiality.
  • Provide administrative support and contribute to continuous improvement of departmental services.
  • Work flexibly as part of a multidisciplinary team to ensure smooth running of the department.

As an Imaging Assistant, you'll work closely with Radiologists, Radiographers, and multidisciplinary teams to ensure a seamless patient journey and the smooth running of the Imaging Department.
