Description
The Image Archivist is responsible for the daily organisation and update of the global digital image database in a meticulous manner and following Gagosian’s guidelines and specifications. Alongside this, the image archivist will be the primary point of call for image and printing requests from the London-based sales team and directors.
Key Responsibilities
Although this is not an exhaustive list, other key responsibilities will include managing external publication requests for represented artists in London, creating digital renderings for clients and 3D and Sketchup models for upcoming exhibitions, and colour-correcting and editing digital photography. At times, assistance will be required with creating exhibition floorplans, creating Artlogic press pages, as well as coordinating and liaising with external photographers and retouchers when the Senior Image Archivist is away.
The Image Archivist will work with and report to the Senior Image Archivist on a day-to-day basis, however, they will also have a dotted line into the Gallery Manager in London. This is a highly demanding, sales-focused role within a broader remit set across the archivist teams globally. The ideal candidate will have the ability to multitask and prioritise workloads both independently and collaboratively, they will possess superb communication and organisational skills, and have a keen eye for detail.
This role is Tuesday to Saturday, 10am - 6pm, on site.
Skills, Knowledge and Expertise
Essential skills:
- Advanced level and proven record of image editing and colour correction in Adobe Photoshop CC.
- Confidence and good working practical knowledge of Adobe Bridge, InDesign,
- Acrobat, Microsfot office, DAMS and SKetchUp
- PC proficiency
Requirements
- Minimum of 4 years’ experience working with digital images in an arts related environment, photo agencies or publishing industry.
- Ability to work on multiple projects at any given time whilst always bearing in mind the importance of prioritising and keeping to deadlines.
- Knowledge of artist’s copyright and image rights preferred
- Willingness to work longer hours when necessary and under your own initiative in order to meet deadlines.
- Ability to work calmly and efficiently and able to recognize and prioritise what’s most important under pressure.
- Previous commercial gallery exposure highly advantageous.
