Job summary

The YOU Trust in Swindon seeks a Female Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) for its PARAGON team. The role is permanent, part-time (34 hours per week) with a salary of £29,182.20 (£34,332 FTE). There is a genuine occupational requirement for a female worker.

The post works within a committed charity dedicated to ending violence and supporting victims. PARAGON is a specialist team within The YOU Trust, delivering advocacy and high-quality support.

Qualifications

• Relevant qualification or equivalent to Diploma/Degree/NVQ5 or equivalent work level experience.
• Nationally recognised IDVA qualification or willingness to commence/complete IDVA training within a year of appointment.
• Experience of supporting women, men and children who have been subject to domestic violence and abuse.
• Experience of effective multi-agency and partnership working.
• Knowledge of trauma informed practice and how it relates to domestic abuse.
• Knowledge of the dynamics and impact of domestic abuse and how best to support victims and survivors.

Responsibilities

• Work closely with people experiencing domestic violence and abuse at high/medium risk requiring targeted support.
• Provide high quality advocacy and support, identifying other family members and children who may be at risk.
• Engage in multi-agency working, receive referrals and attend/preparing reports for court and MARAC and other victim‑focused meetings.
• Provide one-to-one sessions to high-risk victim survivors and work with partners including health to ensure access to the Paragon Team.
• Be part of a training team and build sustainable relationships in the community.
