Job summary

The YOU Trust in Swindon, Wiltshire, is seeking an Independent Domestic Violence Advocate (IDVA) to support high/medium risk victims.

This part-time role (34 hours weekly) involves coordinating with partners, attending MARAC, and delivering targeted advocacy; you'll work as part of Paragon team to empower survivors.

The role requires IDVA qualification or willingness to complete training within a year; experience with trauma-informed practice is essential.

Qualifications

• Qualification or equivalent to Diploma/Degree/NVQ5 or equivalent work level experience
• Nationally recognised IDVA qualification or willingness to commence/complete IDVA training within a year of appointment
• Experience of supporting women, men and children who have been subject to domestic violence and abuse
• Experience of effective multi-agency and partnership working
• Knowledge of trauma informed practice and how it relates to domestic abuse
• Knowledge of the dynamics and impact of domestic abuse and how best to support victims and survivors

Responsibilities

• The IDVA works with high/medium risk victims to provide targeted advocacy
• Identify other family members and children at risk where possible
• Engage with local partners and receive referrals for MARAC and other meetings
• Provide one-to-one sessions with high-risk victim survivors and collaborate with health partners
• Contribute to training and build sustainable community relationships
