Job summary

Planet Recruitment seeks a proactive ICT Technician to provide dedicated IT support for a group of primary schools in Swindon. You will diagnose, repair, and maintain Windows/macOS, Office 365, AD accounts, and AV equipment while delivering excellent customer service.

You must drive and manage your own ticket queue, ensuring SLAs are met. The role emphasizes safeguarding and collaboration with teachers, staff, and students.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 2 years in IT support, including desktop support.
  • Experience with Windows 10/11, Mac OS, networking and hardware repairs.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory and Office 365 administration.
  • Excellent customer service and safeguarding-aware communication.

Responsibilities

  • Provide 1st and 2nd line ICT/AV support for users.
  • Administer user accounts and Office 365 configurations.
  • Maintain system hygiene, antivirus checks and security monitoring.
  • Keep accurate tickets, inventory, and documentation in the IT Helpdesk system.
  • Coordinate with vendors and support providers to resolve issues.
  • Assist with onboarding/offboarding and cloud services.

Position: ICT Technician - Must Drive

Location: Swindon

Salary: £28k - £32k plus Benefits

Our client are looking for a proactive and skilled ICT Technician to provide dedicated IT support to a group of primary schools. The role involves maintaining and improving technology infrastructure in an educational setting, troubleshooting technical issues, and providing essential IT support to teachers, staff, and students. The ideal candidate will enjoy working with children and educators, have strong communication skills, and bring a solutions-oriented approach to ensuring effective technology use in the schools. You will report to the helpdesk team leader and be responsible for managing your own ticket queue ensuring all support issues are dealt with professionally and within SLA.

Principal Duties
  • Technical Support: Diagnose, troubleshoot, and resolve issues with ICT and AV hardware/software, including Windows, Mac OS, networking, and hardware repairs.
  • User Account and Device Management: Administer user accounts, perform installations and configurations, manage device imaging, and provide Office 365 support.
  • System Maintenance: Regular system housekeeping, anti-virus checks, and efficiency/security monitoring.
  • Record Keeping: Maintain accurate tickets, inventory, and equipment checks, ensuring accurate documentation through the IT Helpdesk system.
  • Communication and Liaison: Coordinate with third-party vendors and support providers to resolve issues and ensure high-quality service.
  • User Support: Assist users with OneDrive, SharePoint, Teams, and other cloud services; provide onboarding/offboarding support following established guides.
Experience and Knowledge
  • Minimum 2 years in IT support, with experience in desktop support (Windows 10/11, Mac OS), networking (wired/wireless), basic server administration, and hardware repairs.
  • Familiarity with Active Directory, file permissions, printer support, and Office 365 administration.
  • Excellent customer service skills to maintain a positive user experience.
Desirable skills
  • Understanding of VLAN's / QoS / VPN's
  • Experience of Backup software, including checks and resolutions
  • Experience of cloud managed Anti-Virus / Anti-Spam solutions
