Job summary

Devon and Somerset Fire and Rescue Service is seeking an ICT Infrastructure Engineer to be a technical expert for core infrastructure services. You will support on‑premises and cloud‑based systems, automate processes and drive continuous improvement across a diverse technology estate.

You will work with a wide range of technologies including Microsoft 365, Azure, Intune, SCCM, and VMware/Hyper‑V, providing expert support and developing documentation to shape best practice while delivering

Qualifications

• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of Microsoft enterprise administration, including on‑premises and cloud technologies such as AD DS, Entra ID, Microsoft 365, Intune, SCCM, Azure, Windows 11.
• Demonstrable knowledge and experience of infrastructure monitoring and vulnerability management platforms such as SolarWinds, Nessus and/or RMM tools.
• Experience of network administration (LAN, WAN, WLAN, VPNs).
• Experience implementing ICT security standards and best practice at architectural and operational levels.

Responsibilities

• Monitor systems and alerts, patching and vulnerability management for security and performance.
• Use patch management and automation tools to improve services.
• Maintain and enhance ICT infrastructure across the Service.
• Support endpoint devices and MDM/MAM policies.
• Work with Azure, Hyper‑V and VMware environments.
• Contribute to cyber security initiatives and remediation activities.
• Troubleshoot complex issues across Microsoft 365, Azure, AD, Windows services and networks.
• Produce and maintain technical documentation and diagrams.
• Collaborate with teams, suppliers and partners to deliver ICT services.
