Job summary

We are seeking a proactive Hygiene Team Leader to join Sodexo at the Mars manufacturing site in Castle Cary. You will coordinate daily cleaning activities, supervise the hygiene team and ensure high standards of cleanliness, safety and compliance across the site.

This hands‑on role requires leading by example, training new staff, and maintaining a strong health and safety culture. Flexibility to cover occasional weekends may be required.

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning or hygiene experience, ideally within a manufacturing environment.
• Experience supporting or leading a team would be beneficial.
• Good understanding of health and safety procedures.
• A hands-on, proactive approach to leadership.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Clear and confident communication skills.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team and support others.
• Strong commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safety.

Responsibilities

• Report any safety, quality, equipment or maintenance concerns promptly.
• Support the day-to-day organisation and leadership of the cleaning and hygiene team.
• Take a hands-on approach, working alongside the team to maintain high cleaning standards.
• Promote a strong health and safety culture and Zero Harm Mindset.
• Support the training, induction and buddying of new team members.
• Monitor cleaning standards and elevate any concerns to the Cleaning & Hygiene Supervisor.
• Manage PPE stock, including maintaining records, ordering and issuing supplies.
• Help create a positive, collaborative one-team environment.
