Job summary

Sodexo is seeking a proactive Hygiene Team Leader for the Mars manufacturing site in Castle Cary. This hands-on role coordinates daily cleaning activities to ensure top cleanliness, hygiene and safety standards across the site.

Reporting to the Cleaning & Hygiene Supervisor, you’ll guide the team, train new colleagues and help maintain high standards while covering occasional weekend shifts when required.

Qualifications

• Previous cleaning or hygiene experience, ideally within a manufacturing or similar environment.
• Experience leading or supporting a team.
• Strong understanding of health and safety procedures.
• Hands-on, proactive leadership approach.
• Excellent attention to detail.
• Clear, confident communication.
• Team player with commitment to high cleanliness and safety.

Responsibilities

• Report any safety, quality, equipment or maintenance concerns promptly.
• Support the day-to-day organisation and leadership of the cleaning and hygiene team.
• Take a hands-on approach, working alongside the team to maintain high cleaning standards.
• Promote a strong health and safety culture and Zero Harm Mindset.
• Support the training, induction and buddying of new team members.
• Monitor cleaning standards and escalate concerns to the Cleaning & Hygiene Supervisor.
• Manage PPE stock, including maintaining records, ordering and issuing supplies.
• Help create a positive, collaborative one-team environment.

Job description

Job Title: Hygiene Team Leader
Location: Castle Cary
Contract: Permanent – Full Time 37.5 hours per week
Working Pattern: Monday to Friday, 6:00am–2:00pm, with flexibility and potential to cover occasional weekend shifts when required.
Rate of Pay: £13.40 per hour

About the Role

We are looking for a proactive and hands-on Hygiene Team Leader to join our team at the Mars manufacturing site in Castle Cary.

Supporting the Cleaning & Hygiene Supervisor, you’ll help coordinate the day-to-day activities of the cleaning team, ensuring high standards of cleanliness, hygiene and safety are maintained across the site.

This is a hands-on role, so you’ll work alongside the team while providing guidance, supporting new colleagues and helping ensure cleaning activities are completed safely and to the required standards.
