Job summary

Ethero Ltd. is seeking a Hygiene Team Leader to oversee the Hygiene Operatives, organise duties and ensure high standards of safety and cleanliness within the site. You will manage shifts, support production and facilities, and ensure daily documentation and audits meet requirements.

The role requires a Level 2 Food Hygiene qualification, strong planning and communication skills, and the ability to drive KPI performance. Salary is around £35k with standard site benefits and daytime hours.

Qualifications

• Relevant food hygiene qualification to at least level 2 (minimum requirement)
• Strong planning and scheduling of cleaning tasks
• Excellent verbal communication and numeracy skills
• IT literate with basic equipment and software

Responsibilities

• Lead Hygiene Operatives, organise duties, motivate staff and ensure safety
• Manage daily rotas and arrange cover to have full shift coverage
• Support Operations to maintain Hygiene support across processes
• Ensure tasks align with site schedules to meet KPIs and targets
• Keep hygiene documentation up to date and audited daily
• Drive safety standards in line with H&S requirements
• Carry out disciplinary actions when needed and assist in staff performance reviews
• Assist Hygiene Manager with recruitment, onboarding and staff development
• Prepare reports for management and audits; support visits and inspections
• Contribute to continuous improvement in quality, service, safety and hygiene
• Reach hygiene targets and KPI performance

Job description

• Manage the team of Hygiene Operatives to include the organisation of duties, motivation, communication, and safety, in line with Company requirements.
• Manage the daily resource rotas and arrange relevant cover as necessary to ensure a full complement of staff is available each shift as required.
• Support and collaborate with Operations team to maintain in-shift Hygiene support throughout the Production, Warehouse and amenities processes.
• Proactively ensure that all tasks assigned to the team fall in line with site schedules in order to maintain KPI’s and achieve set targets.
• Ensure all hygiene documentation is completed and audited daily.
• Demonstrate and drive safety standards across the team, in line with Company H&S requirements.
• Conduct investigations and carry out disciplinaries with staff as required.
• Assist the Hygiene Manager in managing staff performance.
• Assist the Hygiene Manager with the recruitment process for new staff as and when necessary, in line with internal recruitment policies.
• Assist the Hygiene Manager with staff development, to include on-the-job training, probation reviews and onboarding. This also includes the training and induction of temporary staff.
• Prepare reports for management on present standards and areas for improvement.
• Assist in the preparation of the site and documents for any scheduled or unscheduled visits or audits.
• Play an active part in the continuous improvement of the team’s delivery of quality, service, safety and hygiene.
• Reach and maintain hygiene targets and key business performance indicators.

Pay: £35,731,80 per annum

Any lawful deductions will be explained clearly before engagement. Statutory deductions such as Tax, National Insurance, and pension contributions (where applicable) will apply.

Working Pattern:

• Days: Monday - Friday
• Hours: 05:00 - 15:00

Candidate Requirements:

• Relevant food hygiene qualification to at least level 2
• Food industry experience advantageous
• Ability to plan and schedule cleaning tasks
• Good verbal communication and numeracy skills
• IT literate
• H&S experience
• COSHH
• Flexibility with shifts and hours due to scheduled and unscheduled visits / audits and production scheduling

Essential: Ability to follow instructions, work safely, and meet the standards required for the role.
