Job summary

Sofina Foods in the United Kingdom is recruiting a Hygiene Operative to keep our production environment clean, safe and compliant. You will work with Production, Technical and Engineering teams to uphold hygiene standards that support product quality and food safety across the site.

This role offers development of specialist knowledge in food manufacturing, plus a collaborative team focused on high standards and continuous improvement.

Qualifications

• Experience in hygiene, food manufacturing or similar production environment.
• Knowledge of hygiene standards and food safety requirements.
• Comfort with established procedures and compliance frameworks.
• Collaborative team member across departments.
• Well organised with ability to manage tasks.
• Detail-focused and committed to high-quality standards.
• Motivated to maintain a safe and efficient production environment.
• Desirable: at least 1 year in hygiene role.
• Desirable: basic understanding of food microbiology.

Responsibilities

• Develop understanding of cleaning chemicals and their application.
• Follow COSHH requirements and assessments.
• Maintain high cleaning standards via cleaning systems, schedules and procedures.
• Develop understanding of factory equipment to meet cleaning requirements.
• Complete hygiene and compliance documentation accurately.
• Follow health and safety policies and procedures.
• Apply basic understanding of food microbiology in daily activities.
• Build positive working relationships across departments.
• Ensure equipment is returned in a food-safe and compliant condition.
• Maintain clean-as-you-go standards across all work areas.
• Support cleanliness of High Risk, Low Risk and external areas.
• Replenish chemicals and consumables to required levels.
• Complete scheduled hygiene tasks and associated documentation.

Role Overview

As a Hygiene Operative, you'll play an important role in ensuring our production environment remains clean, safe and fully compliant. Working closely with Production, Technical and Engineering teams, you'll help maintain the highest standards of hygiene and cleanliness that support product quality and food safety across the site.

Key Duties

• Develop a thorough understanding of the chemicals used within the hygiene department and their correct application


• Follow COSHH requirements and ensure compliance with relevant assessments


• Maintain high cleaning standards through effective use of cleaning systems, schedules and procedures


• Develop a strong understanding of factory equipment to ensure cleaning requirements are met


• Complete hygiene and compliance documentation accurately


• Follow all health and safety policies and procedures


• Apply a basic understanding of food microbiology within daily activities


• Build positive working relationships across departments


• Ensure equipment is returned in a food-safe and operationally compliant condition


• Maintain clean-as-you-go standards across all work areas

• Desirable experience:


• At least one year's experience in a similar hygiene role


• A basic understanding of food microbiology
