Job summary

Geary's Bakeries is looking for a diligent operative to help keep our bakery clean and food safe. You will move around a busy site, performing hygiene tasks and deep cleanings while following health & safety guidelines. A positive attitude and reliable attendance are essential, with weekend work possible.

We value teamwork and good communication as you liaise with other departments and hygiene teams. Training and development opportunities are available within a long-standing, UK-based bakery

Qualifications

• Experience in hygiene, preferably in manufacturing.
• Strong understanding of food safety and health & safety basics.
• Willingness to learn and develop new skills.
• Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Carry out tasks assigned by team leader/supervisor.
• Maintain clean, tidy work areas and uphold hygiene standards.
• Demonstrate food safety and health & safety practices at all times.
• Perform deep cleaning to required standards while following regulations.
• Be punctual with good attendance and adapt to a busy bakery environment.

Job description

Our Operatives are (quite literally) the bread and butter of Geary's. You're responsible for ensuring the environment in which we produce and package our delicious bread is clean and food safe at all times.

Main responsibilities

• Carrying out tasks set out by the team leader/ supervisor.
• Be vigilante in keeping all areas tidy and clean.
• To be an example for H&S and food safety practices while carrying out tasks.
• Carrying out deep cleaning to the expected standard and beyond while maintaining H&S regulations.
• Have a positive attitude towards difficult situations.
• Have a consistent habit of reporting findings with regards to near misses, food safety concerns, foreign bodies and any damages to plant or fabrications.
• Sufficient communication skills to liaise between other departments and hygiene team leader.
• Have a sense of care towards all equipment that is being used by the technician or being worked on by the technician.
• Be punctual and have a good attendance record.
• Have an ambition to develop to next level and learn new skills.

You'll be moving around a busy bakery, carrying out manual and non-manual tasks, which may be physically demanding at times., At Geary's, we look for people who show up everyday to do their best.
