Job summary

Geary's Bakeries Ltd is seeking a Hygiene Operative to maintain a clean, food-safe environment in a busy bakery. You will follow directions from the team leader, keep areas tidy, and demonstrate strong H&S and food safety practices.

The role involves moving around a busy bakery, performing manual and non-manual tasks, and may be physically demanding. Shifts cover days or nights with a premium for late hours; great team fit and development opportunities are encouraged.

Qualifications

• Experience in hygiene, preferably in manufacturing.
• Good understanding of Food Safety and Health & Safety essentials.
• Excellent time-keeping and attendance record.
• Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Responsibilities

• Carry out tasks set by team leader/supervisor.
• Keep all areas clean and tidy to high standards.
• Model high standards of H&S and food safety.
• Perform deep cleaning to required standards while following regulations.
• Report near misses, food safety concerns, or equipment issues.
• Communicate with other departments and hygiene team leader.
• Care for equipment and operate hygiene tools properly.
• Maintain punctuality and good attendance.
• Seek opportunities to learn and develop to the next level.

Hygiene Operative

Shift Pattern Availability: 4 / 7, 4 Fixed Days Each Week
Shift: DAY SHIT 6:00AM - 6:00PM
OR
NIGHT SHIFT 6:00PM - 6:00AM
Rate: £13.15ph, rising to £13.50ph once you become a Skilled Operative.
+ £1ph Premium added to hours between 10pm - 4am
Location: Geary's Bakeries Ltd | Optimus Way | Glenfield | Leicester | LE3 8JR

The Role

Our Operatives are (quite literally) the bread and butter of Geary's. You're responsible for ensuring the environment in which we produce and package our delicious bread is clean and food safe at all times. Your main responsibilities include:

• Carrying out tasks set out by the team leader/ supervisor.
• Be vigilante in keeping all areas tidy and clean.
• To be an example for H&S and food safety practices while carrying out tasks.
• Carrying out deep cleaning to the expected standard and beyond while maintaining H&S regulations.
• Have a positive attitude towards difficult situations.
• Have a consistent habit of reporting findings with regards to near misses, food safety concerns, foreign bodies and any damages to plant or fabrications.
• Sufficient communication skills to liaise between other departments and hygiene team leader.
• Have a sense of care towards all equipment that is being used by the technician or being worked on by the technician.
• Be punctual and have a good attendance record.
• Have an ambition to develop to next level and learn new skills.

You’ll be moving around a busy bakery, carrying out manual and non-manual tasks, which may be physically demanding at times.
