Job Description
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Ensure all aspects of the hygiene service are carried out and maintained to the required standard.
- Manage hygiene hours and ensure all expenditure is authorized and recorded.
- Maintain detailed cleaning instructions and schedules for every hygiene activity that meet BRC food safety standards and audit requirements.
- Responsible for cleaning of air handling, evaporators, and high-risk production equipment.
- Conduct compliance audits/inspections of internal hygiene standards and documentation.
- Manage provision of hygiene chemicals and dosing equipment, including regular reviews with the client.
- Support the Technical & QA team in testing and microbiological investigations to improve hygiene standards.
- Provide training and awareness for hygiene staff on relevant procedures.
- Attend regular meetings, including KPI reviews.
Requirements:
- Minimum Level 3 Food Safety Qualification.
- Experience in a senior Hygiene management role within food or FMCG manufacturing.
- Knowledge of High Care food environments.
- Experience with HACCP.
- People management experience.
- Experience with BRC Customer Audits.
- Ability to lead and work with a diverse workforce.
Other Responsibilities:
- Recruit, induct, and develop employees.
- Handle disciplinary incidents and staff absences professionally and timely.
- Communicate regularly with team members, fostering feedback and two-way communication.
- Participate in projects to drive continuous improvement.
- Provide KPI data and ensure compliance with audit requirements.
- Develop strong working relationships to improve site standards.
- Enforce statutory, company, and site policies and procedures.
- Conduct employee performance reviews and develop training plans.
Key Strategic Responsibilities
- Audit operational documentation, including cleaning schedules, compliance testing, inspections, and training records.
- Develop and update documentation according to legislation and policies.
- Carry out cleaning and related service inspections, addressing non-conformances promptly.
- Ensure team conducts inspections, such as finished standards and PPE compliance.
- Maintain staff rotas within budget, assist in budget design, and manage effectively.
- Manage site annual leave requests to ensure adequate staffing.
- Lead staff recruitment, training, and development, promoting continuous improvement.
- Engage in onsite strategic development with business heads.
- Plan and implement innovations and improvements.
- Maintain a safe, professional work approach.
- Manage contract services by leading teams to ensure efficient service delivery.
- Meet with clients regularly to discuss services and foster relationships.
- Handle customer complaints efficiently, within 24 hours.
- Comply with all CSA and client policies, regulations, and procedures.
Health and Safety Responsibilities
- Follow group and company policies at all times.
- Report deficiencies in systems or equipment that may affect service or safety.
- Use equipment and PPE properly and report issues or needs.
Information Security
- Ensure compliance with CSA’s information security policies.
- Identify and report security risks and incidents.
