Job summary

SSE Renewables Hydro operates the largest fleet of hydro-electric power assets in Scotland. As a Hydro Mechanical and Electrical (M&E) Maintenance Engineer, you’ll maintain and service stations across the Breadalbane area to keep plants reliable and available for operation.

Base location: Killin/Lochay Power Station. Role requires an HND in Mechanical/Electrical engineering, fault-finding skills, and a solid understanding of hydro machinery.

Qualifications

• Qualification: An HND level qualification in a mechanical or electrical engineering subject with strong knowledge of maintenance and reliability.
• Aptitude for fault-finding and analysis to monitor failures.
• Solid understanding of hydroelectric machinery and its interdependent systems.
• Familiarity with Safe Systems of Work and safety culture.

Responsibilities

• Maintain, test and resolve defects on plant and equipment across hydro stations.
• Complete maintenance reports and logs on time per quality requirements.
• Ensure planned maintenance is performed on time using first principles and safe work practices.
• Provide technical support to stakeholders including first responders and control room staff.
• Identify and implement plant reliability improvements and upgrades.
• Maintain Safe Systems of Work authorisation.
