Job summary

Willis Global in the United Kingdom is seeking a Workshop Machinist - Hydraulics Repair / Engineering to join its Essex workshop in Braintree. The role is hands-on, focusing on diagnosing faults, repairing hydraulic rams, and maintaining efficient workshop operations.

You will work Monday to Friday, 8:00am–5:30pm, with overtime as required; an NVQ/City & Guilds in engineering is expected, plus experience in hydraulic repair and stock control; the company offers a pension and on-site parking.

Qualifications

• Engineering qualification such as NVQ, City & Guilds or equivalent.
• Experience in hydraulic repair environment.
• Experience with stock control and parts ordering.
• Ability to diagnose faults, strip, inspect and reassemble components.
• Experience operating manual lathes, pillar drills, band saws and welding.
• Good workshop practices and safety awareness.
• Strong communication with customers.

Responsibilities

• Diagnose faults and repair hydraulic rams and components.
• Strip, refurbish, reassemble hydraulic cylinders.
• Test hydraulic rams for safe operation.
• Operate manual lathes, pillar drills and band saws.
• Weld components as required.
• Liaise with customers to understand job requirements.
• Manage stock and order parts.
• Organise outsourced work and maintain workshop cleanliness.
• Follow health and safety procedures.
• Identify process improvements.
