Job summary

Rise Technical Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Workshop Machinist in the Braintree area to join a growing workshop. You will diagnose, repair and test hydraulic rams and cylinders, while performing manual machining with lathes and other equipment in a busy workshop.

The role requires hands-on hydraulic repair experience and a background in mechanical workshops. Overtime is available and the position is based on a Monday–Friday schedule with regular hours.

Qualifications

• Hydraulic repair / mechanical workshop background.
• Experience using manual lathes.
• Commutable to Braintree.

Responsibilities

• Repair, refurbish and test hydraulic rams/cylinders.
• Manual machining, including lathes, drills and workshop equipment.
• Welding and general mechanical repair work.
• Monday–Friday, 8:00am-5:30pm with overtime available.

Are you a Hydraulic Engineer, Manual Machinist or Mechanical Fitter with experience repairing hydraulic components, looking for a permanent Monday-to-Friday position where you can take ownership of a growing workshop?

On offer is an excellent opportunity to join an expanding engineering business where you will work on a variety of hydraulic equipment, whilst playing an important role in developing and improving the company’s workshop operation.

This company are a growing distributor and manufacturer of hydraulic components, supplying customers across the UK. As part of their continued expansion, they are developing their in-house repair capabilities and are now looking for an experienced Workshop Machinist to join the team.

In this varied role, you will diagnose and repair hydraulic rams and components, stripping, inspecting and rebuilding cylinders before testing completed work. You will also operate manual lathes and other workshop machinery, carry out welding, order parts and liaise directly with customers.

This role would suit a Hydraulic Engineer, Manual Machinist or Mechanical Fitter with strong hands‑on workshop experience looking for a stable position with overtime and the opportunity to take greater ownership as the department grows.

The Role:
