Job summary

Falcon Tower Crane Services, based in Shipdham, Norfolk, seeks a hands-on Plant and Hydraulic Mechanic to maintain hydraulic equipment and tower cranes across the UK.

You will diagnose faults, service hydraulic and mechanical systems, and develop proactive maintenance to improve reliability while supporting customer site operations. Training and career progression are provided within the Falcon Group.

Qualifications

• Proven experience in hydraulic systems, fault finding and repairs.
• A mechanical, plant engineering or hydraulic engineering qualification, or equivalent practical experience.
• Experience maintaining and repairing plant, machinery or heavy equipment.
• Good knowledge of hydraulic cylinders, valves, hoses, pumps, fittings and components.
• Ability to read and interpret hydraulic diagrams, technical information and manufacturer instructions.
• Understanding of preventative maintenance, inspections and safe working practices.
• Good organisational skills and maintenance record keeping.
• Safety-conscious approach; able to work independently or in a team.
• Willingness to travel to customer sites as required.
• Experience with tower cranes or hydraulic climbing systems would be an asset.

Responsibilities

• Carry out hydraulic and mechanical servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs on plant and equipment.
• Maintain hydraulic systems used on tower cranes, including luffing cranes and climbing systems.
• Bench test hydraulic systems and components after maintenance or repair to ensure correct operation.
• Develop and implement a preventative maintenance programme to improve reliability.
• Manage hydraulic spare parts, ensuring correct identification and storage.
• Improve storage arrangements to protect cylinders, hoses, valves and fittings.
• Develop method statements and safe systems of work for hydraulic work.
• Attend customer sites to inspect hydraulic systems before use and monitor during climbing operations.
• Support maintenance and repair of in-house plant and lorry loaders.
• Maintain accurate records of inspections, servicing, repairs and testing.
• Collaborate with Service, Operations and Depot teams to ensure readiness for deployment.
