Job summary

Falcon Tower Crane Services Ltd in Shipdham, Norfolk, is seeking a Plant and Hydraulic Mechanic to maintain, repair and test hydraulic equipment used on tower cranes and other heavy plant. The role requires hands-on technical expertise and a proactive approach to asset management.

You will travel to customer sites across the UK, attend inspections, and contribute to preventative maintenance programmes to improve reliability and minimise downtime.

Qualifications

• Experience with hydraulic systems and fault finding.
• Mechanical/plant/hydraulic qualification or equivalent.
• Ability to read hydraulic diagrams and manufacturer instructions.

Responsibilities

• Carry out hydraulic and mechanical servicing, maintenance, fault diagnosis and repairs on plant and equipment.
• Maintain hydraulic systems used on cranes and climbing systems.
• Bench test hydraulic systems and components after maintenance to confirm operation.
• Develop and implement a preventative maintenance programme to improve reliability.
• Manage hydraulic spare parts, ensuring correct identification and storage.
• Maintain equipment storage, protecting cylinders, hoses, and valves from damage.
• Prepare method statements and safe systems of work for hydraulic maintenance.
• Inspect hydraulic systems at customer sites and monitor during climbing operations.
• Support maintenance and repair of in-house plant and lorry loaders.
• Maintain records of inspections, servicing, repairs and testing.
• Collaborate with Service, Operations and Depot teams to ensure equipment is ready for deployment.
