Penguin Recruitment Ltd is seeking a Senior Hydraulic Modeller in Sedgefield, County Durham to join a growing engineering consultancy and help develop its flood risk and hydraulic modelling capability. This is an office-based role five days a week in a collaborative team.

You will develop and run 1D/2D hydraulic models using HEC-RAS, contribute to Flood Risk Assessments, perform hydrological analysis, interpret flood data, and produce maps and reports while working closely with civil engineers.

Qualifications

• A relevant civil engineering, hydrology, geography or environmental degree is required.
• Minimum experience in flood risk and hydraulic modelling is needed.
• Strong analytical and technical report-writing skills are essential.

Responsabilités

Senior Hydraulic Modeller

Are you a Senior Hydraulic Modeller looking to join a growing engineering consultancy where you can work closely with an experienced civil engineering team and play an important role in developing its flood risk and hydraulic modelling capability?

The Senior Hydraulic Modeller will be based within the Sedgefield office, working as part of a collaborative, technically focused team. This is currently an office-based position five days a week and would particularly suit somebody who enjoys working alongside colleagues rather than predominantly remotely.

The Senior Hydraulic Modeller role will include:

• Developing and running 1D and 2D hydraulic models
• Hydraulic modelling using HEC-RAS and other appropriate modelling packages
• Supporting the preparation of Flood Risk Assessments
• Hydrological analysis and interpretation of flood data
• Assessing fluvial and surface water flood risk
• Producing flood mapping, technical reports and modelling outputs
• Developing practical flood mitigation solutions
• Working closely with civil engineers and other members of the project team

The Senior Hydraulic Modeller should have:

• Around five years’ relevant flood risk and hydraulic modelling experience
• Strong practical experience of HEC-RAS
• Experience preparing or contributing to Flood Risk Assessments
• A good understanding of UK flood risk policy and guidance
• Strong analytical and technical report writing skills
• A relevant Civil Engineering, Hydrology, Geography or environmental degree
• The ability to manage their own technical workload while working closely within a team

Experience of additional packages such as TUFLOW or Flood Modeller and GIS would be advantageous rather than essential.

The Senior Hydraulic Modeller position offers £45,000 – £55,000 and an opportunity to become an important part of a growing engineering team, contributing to the continued development of its flood risk and hydraulic modelling capability.
