Job description

Role: Probate Solicitor / Legal Executive
Location: Manchester, Sheffield, Bristol or Stratford-upon-Avon
Working Pattern: Hybrid - Significant Home Working
Salary: £40,000 - £65,000 DOE
Hours: Full-time or Part-time Available
Contract: Permanent

Are you an experienced Probate Solicitor, Legal Executive or Probate Fee Earner looking for genuine flexibility, excellent benefits and the backing of a large, growing legal services business?

CRA Consulting are working with a major UK legal services provider that is continuing to invest in its specialist Probate and Estate Administration team.

The team has experienced significant growth and is recruiting at a number of levels, with salaries ranging from £40,000 to £65,000 depending on experience.

One of the biggest attractions is the flexibility. The business has embraced hybrid working, allowing lawyers to divide their time between home and regional offices. Full-time and part-time working patterns are also available.

Why this opportunity stands out

You'll benefit from:

  • £40,000 - £65,000 salary DOE
  • Genuine hybrid working with significant home working
  • Full-time or part-time hours
  • 28 days' holiday plus Bank Holidays
  • Holiday increasing to 32 days with service
  • Pension contributions of up to 10%
  • Annual bonus scheme
  • Private healthcare at senior level
  • Wellbeing benefits
  • Training, coaching and study support
  • Excellent career progression
  • Employee discounts and wider benefits

Importantly, you do not need to bring a following or book of clients. The business generates the work, allowing you to concentrate on managing your cases, looking after clients and developing your career.

The Role

You'll join an established specialist Probate team and manage your own Estate Administration caseload from instruction through to completion.

Responsibilities include:

  • Managing Probate cases from start to finish
  • Handling estates of varying complexity
  • Advising executors and beneficiaries
  • Managing Estate Administration matters
  • Communicating with clients by telephone and email
  • Maintaining accurate case records
  • Using modern case management technology
  • Working collaboratively with specialist colleagues
  • Providing excellent client care
  • Mentoring junior colleagues where appropriate

Administrative support is provided, allowing you to focus more of your time on legal work and client relationships.

A modern approach to Probate

The business continues to invest heavily in technology and has introduced AI-enabled processes into its legal platform.

Technology is used to improve efficiency and reduce unnecessary administration, allowing lawyers to concentrate on the areas where their legal knowledge and client-care skills add the most value.

What we're looking for

We're interested in speaking with:

  • Probate Solicitors
  • Chartered Legal Executives
  • STEP-qualified lawyers
  • Experienced Probate Fee Earners
  • Senior Probate Lawyers
  • Estate Administration specialists

You'll ideally have experience managing your own Probate or Estate Administration caseload and be comfortable taking responsibility for matters from instruction through to completion.

You'll need:

  • Strong Probate and Estate Administration experience
  • Excellent client-care skills
  • Good organisational and caseload-management abilities
  • Confidence working independently from home
  • Strong IT and case-management skills
  • A collaborative approach

More experienced lawyers may also have opportunities to mentor and develop junior colleagues.

Genuine Hybrid Working

If you're currently spending several days each week commuting into an office, this could be a particularly attractive move.

The business operates a flexible hybrid model, allowing colleagues to divide their time between home and offices in Manchester, Sheffield, Bristol or Stratford-upon-Avon.

You can therefore retain the benefits of being part of a large, collaborative legal team while enjoying significant home working.

Career Development

The Probate team has grown significantly and the organisation continues to invest in its people, technology and legal services.

Whether you want to develop your technical expertise, handle more complex estates, mentor junior colleagues or progress into a senior position, there is genuine scope to build a long-term career.

You don't need a following or need to generate your own pipeline of work.
