Job summary

ITSS Recruitment Ltd is seeking an experienced Technical Lead for a hybrid role in Stourbridge. You will own WordPress development, lead technical delivery, and collaborate with SEO teams and offshore developers to deliver high-quality websites and digital solutions.

The role combines hands-on development with technical leadership, client engagement, and project ownership, with a pathway to shape development standards and processes across multiple client projects.

Qualifications

• Extensive commercial WordPress development experience.
• Experience leading and coordinating offshore or remote development teams.
• Strong knowledge of PHP, HTML5, CSS3, JavaScript, and MySQL.
• Experience with WordPress page builders such as Elementor, WPBakery, Divi, Beaver Builder, or similar.
• Knowledge of Git version control and modern development workflows.

Responsibilities

• Lead the WordPress development function and establish development best practices.
• Provide technical direction and mentorship to internal and offshore development teams.
• Review code quality and ensure adherence to coding standards.
• Identify opportunities to improve development processes, tooling, and workflows.
• Take ownership of technical architecture decisions across projects.
• Develop and maintain bespoke WordPress websites and web applications.
• Build and customise themes using modern WordPress development practices.
• Work with page builders and ensure responsive, accessible, secure, and high-performing sites.
• Collaborate with clients, account managers, SEO specialists and offshore developers.
• Coordinate and manage workloads across offshore development resources and ensure on-time delivery.
• Support knowledge sharing and collaboration across distributed teams.
• Implement technical SEO best practices and assist with site migrations and performance improvements.
