Job summary

Brighton & Hove City Council seeks a Transport Planning Officer (Policy) to join the Policy & Strategy team at Hove Town Hall. You will help develop transport policies, engage stakeholders, and support early scheme development aligned with council objectives.

The role includes contributing to Local Cycling & Walking Infrastructure Plan, Streetscape Design Guide, and overseeing consultations for schemes delivered by the Transport Projects & Engineering Service.

Responsibilities

• monitoring scheme performance against the DfT’s Local Outcomes Framework
• assisting in the creation of policies such as our Local Cycling & Walking Infrastructure Plan, Streetscape Design Guide and Road Safety Action Plan
• liaising with stakeholders in and outside of the council, assisting in the transition period to the Sussex & Brighton Strategic Authority
• assisting in the delivery of the wider work of the team by supporting consultations and providing comments on planning applications when necessary
• developing and embedding transport policy and supporting the delivery of the team’s work
