Job summary

Knowsley Borough Council is seeking an experienced Team Manager to lead the Help & Protection Team. The role focuses on supervising social workers handling complex child protection cases and ensuring effective safeguarding interventions.

You will oversee performance, conduct case audits, and collaborate with education, health, and police partners to secure positive outcomes for children and families. Hybrid working with a 6-month contract offers long‑term extension potential.

Qualifications

• Significant experience in Children’s Social Care and safeguarding.
• Proven track record as Team Manager or Senior Practitioner.
• Strong knowledge of Child Protection and safeguarding legislation.
• Experience managing complex caseloads and leading social work teams.
• Registered with Social Work England; enhanced DBS clearance.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership and oversight to a team of social workers on complex child protection cases.
• Ensure high standards of practice and statutory compliance.
• Support staff through supervision, performance reviews, and case audits.
• Collaborate with partner agencies (education, health, police) to achieve positive outcomes.
