Job summary

Hatched Recruitment Group is seeking an experienced Team Manager for the Help and Protect (Child Protection) service in Knowsley. You will lead and supervise a team of Social Workers to deliver a safe, timely and high-quality service in line with Children Act requirements.

The role requires strong management oversight, performance focus, and collaboration with the Service Manager. Hybrid working is offered, with office presence required three days per week and start date in January 2027.

Qualifications

• Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration.
• Experience managing teams within children's social care, ideally CIN/CP.
• Strong knowledge of child protection legislation and statutory processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide regular, reflective professional supervision to Social Workers, including ASYE's.
• Prioritise and allocate casework to meet families' needs promptly.
• Monitor team performance through audits, KPIs and case reviews.
• Ensure statutory duties, assessments and plans meet legal standards.
• Maintain high standards of case recording and reporting.
• Chair meetings and ensure effective team communication.
• Support recruitment, induction, training and staff development including PR&Ds.
• Manage budgets and contribute to service planning and development.

Team Manager - Help and Protect (Child Protection) | Permanent

Huyton, Knowsley, Merseyside

£55,224 per annum

36 hours per week, hybrid

About the role

You'll lead, motivate and supervise a team of Social Workers. You'll make sure children, young people and families get a safe, timely, high-quality service that meets the requirements of the Children Act and the Council's policies. Reporting to a Service Manager, you'll provide clear management oversight and decision‑making, with a strong focus on quality assurance and performance.

Key responsibilities

• Provide regular, reflective professional supervision to Social Workers, including ASYEs

• Monitor team performance through case scrutiny, audits and KPIs
• Ensure statutory duties, assessments and plans meet legal and regulatory standards
• Maintain high standards of case recording and reporting
• Chair meetings and keep communication within the team and service effective
• Support recruitment, induction, training and staff development, including PR&Ds
• Manage budgets and contribute to service planning and development

What you’ll need

• Social Work qualification and current Social Work England registration
• Team management experience within children's social care, ideally CIN/CP
• Strong knowledge of child protection legislation, safeguarding and statutory processes
• Confident supervision, decision‑making and performance management skills
• Eligibility to work in the UK

Working pattern

This is a hybrid role. You'll be office‑based for a minimum of 3 days per week. On duty weeks (1 in every 8), you'll be in the office for the full week.
