Job summary

Birmingham City Council is seeking an Associate Governance and Assurance Lead to strengthen procurement governance, manage commercial risk and provide assurance across complex procurement activity in a large local authority.

Join our Commercial and Procurement Services (CPS) team to review procurement activity, ensure compliance, and support robust governance arrangements across the organisation.

Qualifications

• Experience in commercial procurement and procurement governance.
• Ability to review procurement business cases, sourcing strategies and reports.
• Knowledge of procurement legislation, governance requirements and compliance.

Responsibilities

• Develop and improve procurement governance frameworks, processes and controls.
• Review procurement documentation to assess compliance and value for money.
• Provide guidance on legislation, governance and assurance processes.
• Identify procurement, financial and contractual risks and propose controls.
• Coordinate procurement assurance activities and governance reviews.
• Collaborate with procurement, finance and stakeholders to inform decisions.
• Develop guidance and mentor team members to embed continuous improvement.
