Job summary

Renishaw is seeking a Senior Mechanical Design Engineer to join its New Product Development team in the UK. You will lead mechanical design concepts, produce 3D CAD models and drawings, and justify decisions with analysis, including FEA where applicable, across the full product lifecycle from concept to production.

Qualifications

• Degree in Mechanical Engineering or related discipline; HND considered with relevant experience.
• Strong understanding of mechanical engineering fundamentals.
• Experience using 3D CAD to create parts, assemblies, drawings; Siemens NX preferred.
• Knowledge of Design for Manufacture and Assembly and inspection processes.
• Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with attention to detail.
• Good written and verbal communication skills.

Responsibilities

• Generate and develop mechanical design concepts for new products/processes.
• Produce detailed 3D CAD models, assemblies and drawings.
• Justify design decisions using analysis, including FEA where applicable.
• Review engineering drawings and ensure accuracy.
• Develop prototypes and verification/validation test plans.
• Perform testing, analyse results, and inform design development.
• Collaborate with manufacturing, assembly, and marketing for project delivery.
• Support NPI activities and production tooling development.
