Job summary

Norton Blake Limited is seeking a Senior GCP Site Reliability Engineer to enhance reliability, scalability, and performance of cloud-hosted services. This hands-on role covers GCP, production Kubernetes, Terraform and Dynatrace, with a focus on automation and observability.

The position is a long-term contract based in Manchester (hybrid) and falls inside IR35, paying circa £500 a day. You will lead incident response, define SLOs, and drive improvements across the platform.

Qualifications

• Strong hands-on GCP engineering and production operations.
• Dynatrace instrumentation, monitoring and alerting.
• Terraform, Kubernetes, Docker and Linux/Unix.
• CI/CD tooling such as Jenkins, Azure DevOps or GitHub Actions.
• Scripting with Python, Groovy, Bash or PowerShell.
• Strong troubleshooting, cloud networking and security knowledge.

Responsibilities

• Improve availability, resilience and performance across GCP applications and platforms.
• Define SLIs, SLOs and error budgets to measure service health and guide improvements.
• Build actionable Dynatrace dashboards, distributed tracing and SLO-based alerting.
• Develop reusable Terraform modules and administer production Kubernetes environments.
• Automate operational tasks and enhance CI/CD pipelines.
• Lead incident response, root-cause analysis and improvements that prevent repeat failures.
