Job summary

MWH Treatment is seeking a Senior Design Manager to lead design teams across multiple projects at the Testwood office with hybrid working. You will drive design excellence, manage budgets, and ensure compliant, buildable solutions aligned with stakeholder and programme requirements.

You will oversee multi-disciplinary teams, coordinate with partners, and contribute to safety, quality, and sustainability targets throughout design phases from concept through to handover.

Qualifications

• Extensive experience of multi-disciplinary design management in a design-build environment.
• Degree in an engineering-related discipline.
• Chartered Engineer in an engineering-related discipline.
• APM Project Fundamentals Qualification.
• Delivery-driven with ability to set targets and motivate multi-disciplinary teams to deliver on time, cost and quality.
• Knowledge of CDM regulations and construction Health & Safety.
• Extensive experience in large-scale project delivery.
• Strategic, operational, technical and management skills.
• Good knowledge of water treatment processes (civil and MEICA).
• Ability to present technical proposals clearly, confidently and convincingly.
• Desirable: working towards or have obtained APM Project Management Qualification.
• Experience of working for a global organisation.
• Experience of working with remote/dispersed teams.
• Experience in the Water/Wastewater Treatment Industry.
• Ability to embrace collaborative and innovative working.
• Knowledge of BIM procedures and techniques.

Responsibilities

• Lead the Design team to deliver responsibilities and meet customer requirements and project objectives.
• Manage expenditure and drive efficiency with design deliverables within allocated hours and dates.
• Organise all elements of design and document in the Design Management Plan with monthly status updates.
• Attend and contribute to programme, project and technical meetings.
• Ensure technical solutions are cost-effective, high quality and delivered on time.
• Provide technical support during construction, assembly and commissioning as required.
• Ensure all technical work meets standards, specifications and QA processes.
• Contribute to achieving sustainability targets by reducing embodied and operational carbon footprints.
• Communicate effectively with partner organisations and stakeholders.
• Represent MWH Treatment and promote its reputation in client contacts.
• Maintain a professional, positive image and confidentiality in all interactions.
