Job summary

FDM is seeking a Senior AI Developer to work on a client project in Higher Education, in a hybrid London role. You will deliver practical AI-enabled apps and AI assistants, turning use cases into working solutions that show measurable value.

You will collaborate with Enterprise Architecture, AI Product Owner, cyber security, data and infrastructure teams to deploy secure, scalable AI capabilities within existing cloud patterns and governance standards.

Qualifications

• Hands-on Senior AI Developer with delivery ownership and practical results.
• Experience turning use cases into operating AI solutions.

Responsibilities

• Design, develop, test and deploy practical AI-powered applications, assistants and workflow automations.
• Build Retrieval Augmented Generation (RAG) solutions using organisational documentation and standards.
• Develop an initial assistant to review cloud infrastructure designs and check completeness.
• Translate prioritised use cases into proofs of concept and production-ready solutions.
• Use prompt engineering to improve accuracy, relevance, and user experience.
• Integrate LLMs and AI services with existing cloud platforms, APIs and workflows.
• Collaborate with Enterprise Architecture and the AI Product Owner to shape outcomes.
• Work with cyber security, data, integrations, infrastructure and networking to secure resources.
• Ensure solutions follow security, data, networking and governance standards.
• Evaluate models and tools, balancing quality, cost and delivery speed.
• Apply modern software engineering practices: version control, testing, CI/CD, monitoring and documentation.
• Contribute reusable development patterns and guidance as the client's AI capability matures.
• Identify risks and drive delivery from concept through to handover.
• Support shaping future AI opportunities after first value is demonstrated.
