Job summary

Hampshire County Council is seeking a Going Home Worker to support children in care as they reunify with their parents or guardians. You will work with families and professionals to develop robust plans, coordinate services and monitor progress toward safe, lasting outcomes.

The role emphasizes safeguarding, strong relationships, and evidence-based decision-making, with hybrid working and a focus on improving outcomes for children and families within Hampshire.

Qualifications

• Experience of working with children, young people and families in a support, helping or caring role
• Experience of working directly with parents and carers to strengthen parenting skills
• Strong communication and relationship-building skills with a wide range of people
• Good organisational and IT skills, ability to write reports, present information and manage priorities
• A resilient, child-centred and inclusive approach with safeguarding focus

Responsibilities

• Build positive relationships with children, parents, carers and wider networks to support assessments and reunification planning
• Develop and progress robust Going Home plans to support safe home return
• Coordinate with Social Workers and partner agencies for effective decision-making
• Monitor progress, maintain records and provide updates on reunification activity and outcomes
• Signpost families to practical support and strengthen family/community networks for sustainable reunifications
