Job summary

Niyaa People is seeking an experienced Income Officer in Coventry on a temporary basis. The role focuses on managing rent accounts, reducing arrears, and supporting residents in financial difficulty within a hybrid working environment.

Candidate should have experience in income collection, rent arrears, and housing management, with strong communication and IT skills. Travel to visits may be required as part of the role.

Qualifications

• Experience in income collection and rent arrears within housing.
• Understanding of housing legislation, policies and procedures.
• Excellent communication and negotiation skills.
• Ability to manage a caseload to deadlines.
• Proactive approach to preventing and recovering arrears.
• Strong IT and administrative skills.
• Confident handling difficult conversations.

Responsibilities

• Manage rent arrears and take appropriate recovery action.
• Monitor rent accounts and identify potential issues early.
• Work with residents to establish affordable repayment plans.
• Provide advice and support to residents in financial difficulty.
• Take action in line with policies and legislation.
• Liaise with internal teams and external agencies as needed.
• Prepare cases for further recovery action, including potential legal steps.
• Maintain accurate records and well-documented casework.
• Attend home visits or appointments as required.
• Provide a professional and customer-focused service.
