Job summary

Berry Recruitment Group is assisting a Welham Green client near Hatfield in locating a Costing Technician on an initial 6‑month contract, with a potential extension to permanent. The role is five days a week, hybrid (2 office days, 3 from home), with full remote option beyond 20 miles.

You will analyse RFQs, read engineering drawings and BOMs, obtain supplier pricing and lead times, apply correct specifications, and prepare accurate quotations aligned with margin targets and quality standards.

Qualifications

• Reading and interpreting engineering drawings and BOMs with electrical component knowledge.
• Canvassing suppliers to obtain pricing and lead times for detailed quotations.
• Identify specifications or approved alternatives and use Group materials where possible.
• Strong IT skills and experience with ERP systems and quoting software.
• Understanding costing calculations to align quotations with margin targets.
• Experience with ISO 9001:2015 quality management.
• Must have a car and a valid license.

Responsibilities

• Analyze RFQs and documentation to determine technical requirements and generate quotations.
• Read and interpret drawings and BOMs; review electrical components for accuracy.
• Obtain pricing and lead times from suppliers for quotations.
• Ensure correct specifications and alternatives are used.
• Navigate ERP systems and quoting software.
• Maintain costing accuracy and documentation in line with quality procedures.
• Work with cross-department teams to meet deadlines.
• Demonstrate attention to detail and aim for punctual task completion.
• Commit to continuous improvement and quality management.
