Job summary

Opus People Solutions is hiring a Registered Building Inspector for a Local Authority in Shropshire. The role offers hybrid working (home and site) and a rate of £50 per hour umbrella on a 6+ month contract, 37 hours per week.

The candidate will undertake plan checking, site inspections, and provide Building Control advice across domestic, commercial and complex projects, while meeting statutory deadlines and enforcing regulations.

Qualifications

• Registered Building Inspector status with the Building Safety Regulator (Class 2D level or higher).
• MRICS, MCABE or MCIOB membership is required.
• Extensive Building Regulations knowledge and practical application.
• Full plan checking and site inspection experience.
• Building Control experience across domestic, commercial and complex developments.
• Strong communication, organisational and IT skills.
• Experience within Local Government is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Undertaking plan checking and plan assessments for a range of building projects.
• Carrying out site inspections to ensure compliance with Building Regulations and associated legislation.
• Providing Building Control advice to applicants, agents and stakeholders.
• Supporting enforcement activities relating to the Building Act 1984, Building Regulations, dangerous structures and demolitions.
• Maintaining accurate records and ensuring statutory deadlines are met.
• Working collaboratively within a high-performing Building Control team.
