Job summary

National Grid is hiring a Quantity Surveyor to support high-voltage substation projects from multiple offices across the UK, including Warwick. You will take commercial control, manage NEC contracts, and certify payments, ensuring value and fairness.

You will work in a hybrid model, travel as needed, and contribute to a portfolio of complex infrastructure schemes that keep the lights on for communities and businesses.

Qualifications

• Minimum HNC/L4 qualification in Construction, Engineering or Quantity Surveying.
• Experience with main contractors and understanding of contract administration.
• Willingness to travel with possible overnight stays and a full UK driving licence.

Responsibilities

• Take commercial control of high-voltage substation projects up to £6 million.
• Manage NEC contracts and ensure compliance throughout the project lifecycle.
• Resolve variations, assess programme impacts, certify payments, and negotiate outcomes.
• Communicate with multiple stakeholders to align objectives and progress.
• Conduct site measurements and value works from first principles.
• Handle variations and payments to contractors so projects progress as planned.
• Work independently on a portfolio of projects.
