Job summary

Acorn Insurance in Liverpool seeks a Principal Test Automation Engineer to lead the design and build of a containerised testing framework across squads. You will define CI/CD testing strategies, implement contract testing and enforce standards with Azure DevOps.

You will own test data, seeding, isolation and parallel execution, working closely with QA, developers and architects in a hybrid model from Liverpool HQ.

Qualifications

• Senior or Principal level in test automation or quality engineering building the framework.
• Strong TypeScript and Playwright skills with C#/.NET testing experience.
• Experience with containerised test environments and service virtualisation.
• Ability to influence technical direction across squads without direct authority.
• Proven track record in CI/CD, Azure DevOps and contract testing.

Responsibilities

• Design and build a shared, containerised test framework and testing standards.
• Define CI/CD test strategies and enforce quality gates across squads.
• Lead root cause investigations of incidents and test flakiness.
• Collaborate with architects and developers to improve automated testing.
• Manage test data, seeding, isolation and parallel test execution.
