Job summary

Powys County Council invites applications for a Principal Social Worker - Fostering based in Llandrindod Wells. You will lead the fostering service, provide expert consultation and guidance, and ensure child-centred, trauma-informed practice across the team.

You will deputise for the Team Manager, manage complex fostering cases, contribute to service development and drive improvements to achieve the best outcomes for children and young people.

Qualifications

• Registered social worker with significant experience in fostering, children\'s services or related statutory childcare settings.
• Strong safeguarding knowledge and permanence planning.
• Ability to provide professional leadership, guidance and constructive challenge.

Responsibilities

• Manage a caseload of complex fostering work including assessments, support planning, reviews and safeguarding matters.
• Provide professional consultation, mentoring and practice guidance to colleagues.
• Deputise for the Team Manager to ensure effective delivery of fostering services.
• Contribute to fostering recruitment, assessment and retention activity and support panel processes.
• Collaborate with partners to strengthen fostering practice and outcomes for children.
