Job summary

DeepL is seeking a Senior Platform Engineer to join the Hybrid Platform Engineering track. The role focuses on building and operating the compute layer underpinning DeepL's AI products and research, spanning Kubernetes control plane, node lifecycle, networking, storage, and core services across on-prem and AWS.

You will own reliability, capacity, and cost, while guiding architectural decisions and incident management.

Qualifications

Deep, hands-on Kubernetes expertise.
Experience with public cloud or on-prem infrastructure, AWS preferred.
Networking and Linux depth you can debug end-to-end.
Infrastructure as code with Terraform or equivalent.
GitOps delivery with ArgoCD in production environments.
Software engineering in Go or Python for tooling.
Track record of technical ownership across teams and decisions.
Strong incident-management and reliability discipline.

Responsibilities

Take ownership of the reliability, capacity and cost efficiency of DeepL's compute infrastructure across AWS and on-prem.
Shape the platform's architecture with clear technical positions.
Design, build and operate production-grade Kubernetes clusters across cloud and on-prem.
Drive the hybrid model adoption, unifying workloads between on-prem and cloud.
Define infrastructure-as-code standards and strengthen observability and security.
Mentor engineers across the infrastructure track and raise the technical bar.
Build consensus across teams and ship changes at track level.
Lead incident response for hybrid infrastructure and sustain on-call rotation.
