Job summary

DC Thomson is seeking a thoughtful People Operations Intern to join our Dundee-based team on a hybrid model. The role supports onboarding, records maintenance and responding to employee queries while ensuring HR processes stay compliant and efficient.

You will collaborate across People Team, Payroll and Finance, gaining hands-on exposure to a broad range of HR activities and contributing to process improvements and digital transformation initiatives.

Qualifications

• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail.
• Excellent Microsoft Office skills (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
• Ability to handle confidential information professionally.
• Strong communication and customer-focused approach.
• Ability to manage competing priorities and meet deadlines.
• Proactive mindset with a willingness to learn.
• Experience in HR, administration or customer service is advantageous.
• Familiarity with HR systems or working with people data.
• Understanding onboarding, contracts or payroll processes.
• CIPD qualification or studying towards one.

Responsibilities

• Support onboarding of new starters and maintain people records.
• Respond to employee queries and assist HR processes for compliance and efficiency.
• Collaborate with People Team, Payroll and Finance on HR tasks.
• Contribute to HR reporting and payroll administration assistance.
• Raise purchase orders and help manage contractor/freelancer processes.
• Identify process improvements and assist digital transformation efforts.
