Job summary

Places for People is seeking a Network & Security Engineer to join the Commercial IT team in Northwich. This hands-on role focuses on keeping our network and security infrastructure reliable, secure and high‑performing while supporting colleagues, partners and suppliers with a People First approach.

You’ll work across on‑premise and cloud environments, maintaining LAN/WAN/WLAN, firewalls, VPNs and security platforms. A DBS check is mandatory due to the role and environment.

Qualifications

• Hands-on experience with networking tech in complex environments
• Strong troubleshooting skills and issue resolution
• Experience coordinating with multiple internal and external stakeholders
• Interest in evolving technologies and security threats

Responsibilities

• Engineer, monitor and improve security controls for networks (on-prem & cloud)
• Maintain LAN, WAN, WLAN, firewalls, VPNs, web and email security
• Monitor security alerts from SOC and threat systems
• Investigate network behaviour and threats; support remediation
• Create/run books and automate where possible
• Provide technical support to colleagues and contractors
